32 St Georges Road creates a new model for build-to-rent liveability that prioritises neighbourhood placemaking, communal green space and access to transport within a densifying Melbourne.
The architecture is pushed to the perimeter to maximise usable area while creating a campus-style central green heart. Each block is distinct in appearance, bringing individual identities to each form, and setback from St Georges Rd to encourage natural light within.
Prioritising pedestrian access, the ground plane also features a mix of commercial and dedicated community areas described as Assemble Spaces. These areas are core to the neighbourhood integration goals of Assemble.
Materials such as brick, pigmented concretes and steel have been selected for their robust nature and honesty. These, together with a considered interior palette, seek to capture the unique architectural vernacular of Melbourne’s northern suburbs and the surrounding post-war housing.
