Two distinct offerings, COSMOS BY ST. ALi and ST. ALi TAKEAWAY, occupy tenancies within University of Melbourne’s New Student Precinct. Comprising an espresso kiosk, café and pizzeria and commercial kitchen, they engage with campus daily life by providing fun and relaxed gathering places.

The brief for Takeaway was to generate buzz with an eclectic, bold and slightly industrial feel. This vision was adapted to the existing warm shell fit-out. Cosmos was conceived as a destination restaurant, named after the client Salvatore’s father and in tribute to the family’s first Italian restaurant pizzeria opened in 1985. Located on the ground floor of the Art and Culture Building, the material selection is warm and welcoming.

The emphasis on sustainability is reflected in durable and low-impact materials. The design adheres to UoM’s sustainability guidelines while bringing ST. ALi’s established brand to life.
