Thank you to the Think Brick Awards for recognising Berninneit Cultural and Community Centre with a High Commendation in the Horbury Hunt Commercial Award, which recognises innovation and craftsmanship in brickwork.

Evoking Phillip Island’s natural geology and topography, Berninneit is a purpose-built public building that feels inherently connected to its local community and of its place.

Pink-gold bricks, pressed in Wollert by Nubrik, reference nearby sand dunes and the weathered granite of Cape Woolamai. These locally manufactured and carbon-neutral bricks, combined with perforated metal fins that reduce heat load from the low afternoon summer sun, shape a building that aligns with Council’s sustainability agenda and provides its community with a cultural hub of substance.
