Compose Hawthorn has been awarded Best Residential Multi-Dwelling at the 2025 Boroondara Urban Design Awards.

Compose is a contextually responsive infill development delivering medium-density, low-rise housing in a high-amenity Hawthorn setting. The three-level townhouses respond to their sloping site and heritage context through a stepped form that reflects a domestic scale and creates a leafy entry sequence.

Passive design principles support energy efficiency, with cross-ventilation, shaded north-facing glazing, thermal mass, and solar integration. Rainwater harvesting, native landscaping, and the retention of mature Elms enhance amenity and sustainability. A robust material palette of red brick and charcoal cladding balances heritage character with contemporary form. Perforated screens offer privacy and dynamic visual interest, while the verdant pedestrian walkway provides street-level access to all homes—activating the public realm and fostering connection between residents and the wider community.
