The Cullen is a boutique, five-storey art hotel in Prahran, comprising ground floor retail, restaurant, bar and cafe, with gymnasium and pool on the roof deck. It is one of the Art Series Hotels, along with The Olsen and The Blackman.

Sitting on the busy corner of Grattan St and Commercial Rd, the building is set back from Grattan St to provide an active public open space and vista to the park beyond.

Balconies are contained within cantilevered boxes that create an expressive and sculptural building facade. The coloured pattern of these green-lined boxes offers a dynamic vertical landscape. On the Commercial Rd facade this idea is inverted, as green boxes of the same scale press into and puncture the facade, referencing the turrets and datums of the surrounding context.

The Cullen embraces Prahran's eclectic, dynamic location with a building exterior that is unashamedly bold and colourful. It draws on the hotel’s art-centric interior that features an estimated 450 contemporary Australian works.
